Week 3 DFI

Today we looked at the Create part of Manaikalani. I agree with this because I know from my own experience I learn and retain more information when I create something myself. I also enjoyed learning about SISOMO and how that hooks a learner in more effectively. I enjoyed learning about youtube, creating my own channel and making sure I knew how to change the settings so it is appropriate to be used at school. I have now created several playlists to use at school. This will be very helpful in the future as I now know how to add videos to playlists. This means I won’t need to leave them open as a tab until I have finished with them. It was great to be reminded of how effective our digital tools like google draw can be. I really enjoyed having a go at creating a game with dice in google slides. Below is the game that I started to create and will finish throughout next week.

    1. I am still playing around with getting it finished. I have had a few problems with it as you can't use the dice in present mode. The kids I teach are quite savvy with slides so they would work out how to see the answers when not in present mode. I am still working on it though and may have come up with a way to hide the answers. If it works I will share the final product.

  2. Kia ora Talei,

I really enjoyed reading your reflection on DFI Week 3. I like how you have taken parts from the DFI and are making connections with what that does currently and could look like in your practice. The game that you created is awesome. Gamification is such an interesting topic - where kids learn through games. Let me know how they enjoy the completed product. Maybe they could have a go at creating their own? Keep up the great blogging and see you next week.
