Survey Reflection
After my literacy group completed the survey, the students were really keen to see the results. I wasn't expecting this as in the past, with other surveys, they haven't been that interested in seeing them. I wasn't surprised that the majority of students said they didn't enjoy reading at school but the numbers were closer than I expected. I was really pleased to see that more students do enjoy reading in their own time outside of school. Through discussions with the students, I think that this difference is because some students don't know what books interest them or how to find out how to choose a book that they will enjoy. It will be interesting to see how this changes after I work with them more on how to choose a book they will enjoy. I will also take this on board when I am thinking about what texts to use with my reading groups. I was pleased to see that half of the group understood how books can help them.
